Food

Several of our members have food allergies that can result in severe reactions. While each parent is ultimately responsible for the safety of their own child/ren at playgroup, we try to minimise the risk of allergic reaction as much as possible.
To this end:
  1. ALWAYS CHECK WITH THE PARENT BEFORE GIVING ANY CHILD FOOD To make it easier, we ask that parents use the coloured name tags for children with allergies but sometimes nametags get lost or swapped while playing so this cannot be relied upon. Imagine how you would feel if a child became sick because of food you gave them! So it is best to ask every time.

  2. SECURE YOUR OWN FOOD Little fingers are great at finding snacks - even those in someone else's pram pocket or open bag.

  3. NO NUTS may be brought to Pyrmont Playgroup. This includes foods containing nuts such as muesli bars, sprinkles on cakes, etc. Parents will be asked to remove any food containing nuts from the venue immediately, and it will not be served to the children under any circumstances.
Can I Bring A Birthday Cake?

It is great fun to celebrate a birthday at playgroup. While some parents do bring a birthday cake, typically we ask that parents bring some birthday food everyone can share. Our playgroup's food needs vary according to the allergies of our current members so please contact the Coordinator before bringing birthday food.
